The Hilltoppers from St. Edwards pushed it to the last two games to beat the Cardinals 6-3 in San Antonio. Incarnate Word dropped to 7-7 with the loss.
UIW dropped all three doubles matches but stormed back in the first few singles matches to make it a game against the Toppers from Austin. The deciding game came between Chris Lawson and Mick Walter who went to three sets. Lawson had a chance to win in two sets but lost the tie-breaker and eventually lost in the third set. The Cardinals got singles wins from Olvera, Ballenger and Trautmann.
Yesterday the Cardinals fell for the second time this year to Laredo Community College. After the weekend the Cardinals dropped to 7-7 on the year. Next up for UIW is road trip north to play a trio of games against Midwestern State, Northwest Missouri and Cameron. The will be played April 7th-9th.
