Alex Shillow joined the University of the Incarnate Word as the Associate Athletics Director for Development in September 2024. In this role, he provides leadership to the athletics development, ticket sales, and sponsorship units, while directing all fundraising efforts of the Cardinals Club. He also focuses on growth of the Tartan Society, the exclusive philanthropic giving society dedicated to UIW Athletics, with a focus on multi-year commitments.

Shillow joins the UIW staff from recently serving as Regional Director for EXACT Sports, focusing on development and sponsorship in youth sports. Prior to that, Shillow had a stint at UNT serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development. There he was responsible for securing major gift commitments to the Athletics department capital project campaign and supporting premium seating efforts. 

Prior to that role, Shillow gained his Division I start at UAB, serving as the Associate Director of Development. As a front-line fundraiser, Shillow was responsible for growing the annual fund membership. He spearheaded and executed the most successful Giving Tuesday campaign for the department with the implementation of Blazers Give Day. In addition to enhancing premium seating revenue for football and men's basketball, he oversaw marketing and social media efforts.

Prior to his time in Birmingham, Shillow worked as the Athletics External and Development Assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Nationally, Shillow is actively engaged with NAADD and the NCAA. He’s a past participant of the Learfield Edge Academy, and past McLendon Foundation Scholar. As a student-athlete in college he served on the Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, while chairing the group for two years.

A native of Texas, Shillow played football for five years at Texas A&M-Commerce where he completed a stellar athletic career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management and his master’s degree in Business Administration, both from Texas A&M-Commerce.
