University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

2011-12 (Junior):  Rubin set three RMAC and three school records during the season.  He was the RMAC Championship Swimmer of the Meet and the Academic Student-Athlete of the Year.  He earned Capital One Academic All-America and Academic All-District VI First Team honors and was a CSCAA Scholar All-American.  He earned NCAA Division First Team All-America honors in four different events and was an Honorable Mention All-America in three other events. to help the team finish fourth nationally.  He was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team.  He set the RMAC meet records in the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.36), the 1000-yard freestyle (9:20.66) and the 1650-yard freestyle (15:43.46).  He was also a member of the RMAC runner-up 800-yard freestyle relay team.  He was named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2010-11 (Sophomore):  Rubin earned RMAC All-Academic First Team honors and Capital One Academic All-District VI First Team..  He was an RMAC Second Team selection in the 500-yard, 1000-yard and 1650-yard freestyle events.  He took RMAC First Team honors in the 800-yard freestyle relay.  He racked up numerous first and second place finishes throughout the year, but missed out on the national meet.

2009-10 (Freshman):  Rubin helped the Cardinals to a national runner-up finish and was RMAC All-Academic First Team.  He was the RMAC Freshman of the Year and a CSCAA Scholar All-American.  He earned All-American honors in the 500, 1000 and 1650-yard freestyle and 800-yard freestyle relay.  He was RMAC First Team in the 800 freestyle relay, second team in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle and third team in the 500 freestyle.

High School:  Rubin was on the swim team at Shadow Mountain High School. 

Personal:  Rubin is the son of Wendy and the late Udo Rubin and is studying biology.  He has a sister, Jennifer.  His mother swam on the German National Team.  He was born on February 22, 1991 in Bonn, Germany.  He has been on the UIW President's and Dean's List every semester and was inducted into the Honors Convocation of the School of MSE in 2011.
