Ruvalcaba Cruz Named to Mexican National Team

San Antonio -- University of the Incarnate Word men's swimming and diving sophomore Hector Ruvalcaba Cruz was named to the Mexican National Team, the Mexican Swimming Federation announced. The travel roster includes just 12 swimmers.
 
Ruvalcaba Cruz is a sophomore engineering major who was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and grew up swimming for the Mexican National Club Team. He was a strong force in helping the Cardinals win the 2018 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association title. Ruvalcaba Cruz also received the men's Most Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Championship award.
 
Ruvalcaba Cruz's won the 400 Individual Medley in every dual meet during the course of the 2018 season. At the CCSA meet, Hector swam his best time with a 3:50.00.
 
Ruvalcaba Cruz also won the 200 Butterfly in every meet he competed in this season, with a career-best time of 1:47.33 at the CCSA meet. In both Fly and IM, Hector was ranked first going into the CCSA conference meet
 
For his efforts in 2018, he was named CCSA Male Swimmer of the Year.
 
Ruvalcaba Cruz and the Mexican National Team compete at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, on July 20-25th.
