San Marcos, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word track and field teams posted solid marks in their final tune-up before hosting the Southland Conference Championships. The Cardinals wrapped up the Texas State Bobcat Classic with two new school records and several personal bests.
LEADERS
The women's 4x100 relay of
LaShawnda Simmons,
Jane Arinze,
Victoria Jackson and
Erekha Sebastion ran a 45.35 to break the event's four-year old school record and finish first. Sebastion later placed fifth in the 200m with a new personal best of 24.08.
Kalia Hendrix (24.80) and
Breanna Ransom (25.00) also recorded collegiate best times and finished tenth and twelfth, respectively.
Sarea Alexander won the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.86m/42-2.25, while
Tiffani Mays placed second in the 400m with a season-best 54.54.
Deja Keys claimed a personal record in the 100m and placed fourth in 11.87.
Amiah Parson ran a 14.52 in the 100H to crush her previous mark of 15.02 and finish fifth.
Megan Hernandez crossed the line in 4:49.76 for a new PR in the 1500m.
Antwanisha Riddle posted a collegiate best toss of 41.57m/136-4 in the discus throw.
On the men's side,
Garett Cortez broke his school record and finished first in the 1500m with a time of 3:48.37.
Jorge Quintero placed second in 3:53.24, while
Adam Herrera ran a new PR of 3:59.53 for seventh place.
Clinton Cole won the 100m with a new PR of 10.34.
Andrew Leuthner (10.56),
Alonzo Woods (10.72) and
Terry Sims (10.83) each claimed personal bests in the event.
Jordan Epps ran a season-best 10.66 and placed fifth overall.
Jordan Cherin rounded the track in 48.14 for a new PR and a fourth-place finish in the 400m.
Ricky Waer (54.99) and
Christopher Hernandez (55.10) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 400H with new PRs.
