FRISCO, Texas – For the second time this season, redshirt junior
Sarea Alexander, has been named the Southland Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Competing in her specialty, the long jump, MacArthur High School product,
Sarea Alexander, re-broke both the stadium record and the school record as she finished first with a leap of 6.34m/20-9.75. Her jump leads the SLC and ranks 3rd in the NCAA West Region. In the triple jump, Sarea would have had a monster jump, but her foot just went over the bar for a foul. Her leap of 12.92m/42-4.75 was still respectable - 2nd in the SLC and 14th in the NCAA West Region.
Garett Cortez and
LaShawnda Simmons were both named SLC Honorable Mention Track Athletes of the Week. Winners around the conference this week include: Avery Williams (Abilene Christian, Men's Track), Brian O'Bonna (Lamar, Men's Field), and De'Shalyn Jones (Northwestern State, Women's Track).
