FRISCO, Texas – Senior pitcher, Sarah Leal, of the University of the Incarnate Word softball team was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Leal, a native of Kyle, Texas, accounted for all three Cardinals wins at the Madeira Beach Showcase last weekend. Her six strikeouts against Villanova tied her career high, while she only issued the one free pass in a complete-game effort. She pitched all but two innings for the Cardinals, striking out 12 while walking only three.
 
Central Arkansas' Kate Myers won Hitter of the Week honors after hitting .563 in a 2-3 week for the Bears at the same tournament.
