NORTON, Mass. – Behind strong performances from senior
Beatriz Regly and junior
Camille Guerre, the University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swimming opened their season with a victory at the Wheaton College Invitational over the weekend.
UIW swept the solo, duet, trio, team, and A figures en route to 88.0 points. In second place was host Wheaton with 81.0 points. Boston University rounded out the invitational accumulating 70.5 points.
Regly, a Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, native, won the A figures element and joined Guerre in the winning performance in the duet. Guerre, an Aix-en-Provence, France, product, earned first place honors in the solo and finished second overall in the A figures element, as the Cardinals took home the top six spots: Regly, Guerre,
Madeline Walker-Byron,
Natalia Vega,
Alexandra McGee, and
Sara Jaumandreu.
In the duet, Regly and Guerre finished first with 66.7 points, narrowly defeating teammates Walker-Byron and
Sarah Rodriguez.
The team of
Rebecca Barlow, Guerre, Jaumandreu, McGee, Regly, Rodriguez, Vega, and Walker-Byron took home first place with 66.0 points.
UP NEXT
UIW hosts its annual Invitational in two weeks, Feb. 9-10, from the Ann Barshop Natatorium. Friday's elements are scheduled for 7 p.m., while Senior Day Saturday is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. with routines.
