LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word track and field teams wrapped up their final day of competition at the Texas Tech Classic & Multis with several top-eight finishes and new PRs (

LEADERS
Erekha Sebastion crossed the line in 57.88 to better her time in the women's 400m.
Kalia Hendrix recorded new PRs in the 400m (59.71) and 200m (25.49).
LaShawnda Simmons and
Jerica Love also posted indoor bests in the 200m running 24.98 and 25.23, respectively.
Dominique Allen placed second in the 800m with a season's best time of 2:13.31.
Antwanisha Riddle had a big PR in the weight throw with a chunk of 12.25m/40-2.25.
The women's 4x400m relay squad, featuring
Tiffani Mays,
Victoria Jackson,
LaShawnda Simmons, and
Erekha Sebastion, finished third overall with the second fastest time in school history (3:50.22).
Garett Cortez was the standout performer for the men's squad. Cortez clocked in at 4:12.46 for a new best in the men's mile and first place finish amongst collegiate competitors.
Cesar Moreno made a strong improvement in the mile with a 4:24.69 new PR.
Clinton Cole took fourth in the 60m (6.86) and sixth in the 200m (21.75).
Jamari Gilbert had another weekend of improvement in the 400m as he crossed the line in 48.90 to place eighth. Gilbert ran for a new best in the 200m indoors with a solid 22.02.
Jorge Quintero and
Deion Hardy finished first and second, respectively in the 3000m. Quintero clocked in at 8:33.30 while Hardy finished at 8:33.56
Desmond Burnett registered a new best in the weight throw. He launched his implement 12.63m/41-5.25 to crush his previous record set at the Ted Nelson Invitational.
Wiley Saavedra posted his second PR of the season in the pole vault. Saavedra soared over 4.83m/15-10 to better his previous mark (4.57m/15-0) set at the season opener.
Joshua Zozaya also claimed a new best in the event indoors with a clearance of 4.68m/15-4.25.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals will rest next weekend before their final tune-up before conference at the Howie Ryan Invitational. The meet will take place at the Yeoman Fieldhouse on Feb. 9-10
