Elodie Yates and
Madison Frerking led the way to a fifth-place finish for the University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team at the Lady Maxwell Tournament, hosted by Oral Roberts at Dornick Hills over the weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals were one of only two teams at the season-opening event to improve in each round. UIW turned in rounds of 314, 309 and 300, for a total of 923 (+71).
Texas A&M won the event, shooting rounds of 290, 298 and 287 for a total of 875 (+23). Wichita State came in second with a score of 898 (+46), while Sam Houston placed third with a total of 900 (+48).
Sam Houston's Hannah Alberto and Wichita State's Taryn Torgerson tied for the individual title, each shooting 214 (+1). Courtney Dow came in third with a total of 215 (+2).
