FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's cross country teams make the trek northeast to Arkansas for the 29
th annual Chili Pepper Festival Saturday morning at the Arkansas Cross Country Course.
STARTING LINE
Following the 10k and 5k open races, the men's collegiate 10k will take place at 9:30 a.m. The women's 5k follows at 10:20 a.m., with awards to follow.
The meet brings in college and high school teams from all over the country. Collegiate teams scheduled to race along the Cardinals include: Arkansas, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas-Monticello, Arkansas Tech, Baker International, Bethel University, Boston College, Central Arkansas, Central Baptist College, Christian Brothers, Clarksville, College of the Ozarks, Colorado School of Mines, Creighton, Crowley's Ridge, Dallas Baptist, East Central, East Texas Baptist, Evangel, Friends, Indian Hills CC, Lindenwood, LSU-Shreveport, Missouri State, Northwest Missouri State, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City, Ouachita Baptist, Santa Clara, Southern Arkansas, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas State, Texas Tech, Trinity, UT Arlington, UT-Rio Grande Valley, University of the Ozarks, Wayland Baptist, West Texas A&M, and Williams Baptist.

UIW had a week off in preparation of the Chili Pepper Festival. Two weeks ago,
Deion Hardy earned Southland Conference Male Runner of the Week after winning the Abilene Christian Naimadu Classic. The women will continue to look towards
Danielle Martinez, and
Emily Wilson, who had a very strong ACU meet, as she led the ladies for the first time in her career, finishing sixth overall. For her efforts, Wilson was named Honorable Mention SLC Female Runner of the Week.
UP NEXT
UIW hosts the 12
th annual UIW Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Live Oak City Park. The men's 8k begins at 8 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at 8:35.
STAY TUNED
The Cardinals don't race again for three weeks, as they return to Abilene for the Southland Conference Championships on Friday, Oct. 27.
