CHOUDRANT, La. – Facing a challenging field,
Cole Solis helped lead the University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team to a strong showing at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, hosted by Louisiana Tech.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals got off to a slow start at the two-day, three-round event, shooting a combined 310 over the opening 18 holes. UIW responded in round two, cutting their total by 19 strokes to shoot 291. The squad closed out the event with a 300 on Tuesday morning, finishing with a combined score of 901 (+37) to take 13
th.
South Florida won the tournament by a large margin, turning in rounds of 282, 277 and 284 for a two-day total of 843 (-21). Stephen F. Austin placed second with a score of 856 (-8), followed by host school Louisiana Tech, with a three-round total of 862 (-2).
The individual title was won by Cristian DiMarco of South Florida, who shot 208 (-8). SFA's Angelo Leyvani came in second with a total of 209 (-7), followed by Lewis George of Central Arkansas, with a score of 210 (-6).
