ATHENS. Georgia - The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's swimming and diving team closed out day four the CCSA conference championships with five new school records, a fifth place finish for the women, a third place finish for the men, and two 'Most Outstanding Swimmer' awards.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cardinals smashed records in the final session of the conference meet and had nine swimmers in the top 8 of finals. New records were made by Hector Ruvalcaba-Cruz in the 200 butterfly,
Natasha Fung in the 100 backstroke,
Abigail Meyer in the 200 backstroke, Krylo Shvets in the 1650 freestyle, and Hector Ruvalcaba-Cruz,
Kyrylo Shvets,
Beau Fusilier, and Jack Hennessy in the 800 freestyle relay.
Along with their new school records, Shvets earned the CCSA '17 Most Outstanding Male Swimmer of the meet and freshman, Hector Ruvalcaba-Cruz, earned the CCSA '17 Most Outstanding Male Freshman award.
