FULL RESULTS
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team shot a combined 867 (+15) to narrowly edge Oklahoma City and win the 2017 James S. Litz Memorial Golf Tournament on Valentine's Day at The Republic Golf Club.
HOW IT WAS WON
The Cardinals shot rounds of 291, 284 and 292 over the two-day, three-round event, besting Oklahoma City by just two strokes. OCU shot rounds of 288, 292 and 289, winning the first and third, but UIW's strong second round lifted the Cardinals to victory.
Oklahoma City finished second with a combined score of 869 (+17), while Schreiner shot 887 (+35) to take third overall.
The individual title was won by Schreiner's Joseph Wolcik, who shot rounds of 66, 70 and 70 for a total of 206 (-7). OCU's Matthew Cheung and Rupert Kaminski finished second and third respectively, turning in scores of 211 (-2) and 214 (+1).
LEADERS
Caden Wylie paced UIW with rounds of 71, 69 and 75 to finish fourth with a total score of 215 (+2).
Kevin Smith was the next-highest finisher for the Cardinals, shooting consistent rounds of 73, 72 and 72 for a total of 217 (+4).
Jeff Conflitti and
Remy Huston tied for 15
th overall, each shooting a two-day total of 220 (+7).
Cole Solis rounded out the squad with a 224 (+11) to finish 26
th.
Playing individually,
Connor Ross shot 219 (+6) to finish tied for 11
th. Just off Ross' pace, Charlie Rios took 17
th with a three-round total of 221 (+8). John Luhnman shot 223 (+10) and
John Hill shot 229 (+16) to finish 20
th and 35
th respectively, while
Kyle Broll turned in a total of 241 (+28) to come in 61
st overall.
