SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team is ranked in the top five nationally in blocked shots per game.
In seven games played, the Cardinals have 50 blocked shots, good for 7.1 per game. UIW only trails Illinois-Chicago (7.3 blocks per game), Minnesota (7.8), Michigan State (7.9), and Louisville (8.5). The two Cardinal programs – UIW and Louisville – have played in the fewest amount of games, with seven. UIW has more blocks than storied program, Kentucky, which has 6.4 blocks per game in eight contests. In the Southland Conference, the next highest team, Central Arkansas, has 4.6 blocked shots per game.
UIW is on pace for 196 blocked shots – far surpassing the program record of 166 set in 2008-09.

UIW takes the next week off for finals and returns to action next Saturday, Dec. 16 hosting UMKC at 3 p.m.
