SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf A-team came in third at the James S. Litz Memorial on Tuesday, led by four Cardinals that posted top-10 performances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cole Solis tied for fourth,
John Hill and
Chase Rios tied for sixth and
Kevin Smith placed 10
th at the two-day, three-round event, hosted by UIW at The Republic Golf Club. The Cardinals' A-team shot 883 (+31), while UIW's B-team finished seventh with a score of 992 (+70). The A-team was tied for fourth after the opening round and climbed to second in round two, but ultimately finished third after fellow Southland Conference member New Orleans posted a strong final round to overtake UIW for second.
Texas State won the event with a team total of 869 (+17). The Privateers shot 878 (+26), coming in just five strokes under the UIW's A-team.
The Bobcats' Logan Lockwood shot 213 (E) to win the individual title. Brothers Homero de Toledo and Ulisess de Toledo of New Orleans tied for a share of second, each shooting a two-day total of 216 (+3).
