HUNTSVILLE, Texas –
Madison Frerking turned in a top-10 performance on Tuesday to help lead the University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Sam Houston State University Bearkat Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals turned in rounds of 313, 305 and 314, for a two-day total of 932 (+80). Frerking started slow, shooting an 82 in her opening round, but surged over the final two with scores of 71 and 74 to place ninth.
Houston Baptist and host Sam Houston tied to win the event, each turning in a three-round score of 891 (+39). Stephen F. Austin took third with a total of 910 (+58).
Sam Houston's Jenna Phillips carried the individual title with a two-day score of 213 (E). Lexi Brooks of Houston Baptist and Hanna Alberto of Sam Houston tied for a share of second with 214 (+1).
