FRISCO, Texas – Junior
Deion Hardy's season continues to be scorching hot, as he was named Southland Conference Runner of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Tuesday.
Hardy, a Temple, Texas, native, became the first runner in program history to win two races in one season, as he beat 73 competitors with a time of 25:42.6. Hardy has won twice in the last three races and has led the men during that stretch. He helped the men blow away the rest of the competition, beating second-place TCU by 35 points.
Junior
Emily Wilson was named Honorable Mention All-Conference for the second-straight week, as the New Braunfels, Texas, native fell just short of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Allyson Girard, who won the women's 6k.
UP NEXT
UIW will take three weeks off to prepare for the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships, slated for Friday, Oct. 27 from the ACU Cross Country Course in Abilene, Texas, the place where Hardy won his first race this season. The women's 6k is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with the men's 8k ready an hour later.
