UIW Cardinals Club SAAC All-Sports Banquet Tickets On Sale Now

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Tickets are on sale for the annual Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) All-Sports Banquet, hosted by University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals Club on Sunday, April 30 at 6 p.m. inside Rosenberg Sky Room.  Doors will open at 5 p.m.

The banquet will honor student-athletes for their academic and athletic success throughout the 2016-17 academic year.  Student-athletes that have completed their four years of eligibility will also be recognized and gifted for their commitment to their sport by the Cardinal Club membership.

"The student-athletes are why we are here," said Anne Richards, Cardinals Club interim president.  "To team up with SAAC and put an event together for 23 programs, is humbling, and it gives both groups the opportunity to work together for the good of over 500 student-athletes," said Richards.

Awards include the "Cardinal Fire Award", which is selected by UIW coaches, and is presented to the student-athlete that has achieved outstanding success in their respective sport and that embodies UIW mission, followed by the "Cardinal Spirit Award", which is given to the team that has shown the most support at home contests, athletic functions, and SAAC participation, and is voted by SAAC. New this year, is the "Team Grade Point Average (GPA) Award", honors a team with the top cumulative team GPA that demonstrated its focus on the importance of academic success and standards during the academic year.  Meanwhile, the athletic department selects its Male and Female Athlete of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year honorees.

The event will culminate with speaking engagements from UIW coaches and Cardinals Club members, along with introduction of the incoming SAAC representatives to cap off the event.

The event is open to the public and is being catered by Heavenly Gourmet.  Tickets are $40 for guests, $15 for kids 6-16 years old, while those five years and younger are free.  Tickets must be purchased at https://commerce.cashnet.com/EM97.
