Waring Wins Runner of the Week Award

FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word senior Jasmine Waring (San Antonio/Randolph HS) was named the Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week winning an award that is presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Wednesday.

Waring was the top performer for the Cardinals at the Kansas Relays garnering a trio of runner-up finishes.  She started her campaign with a second place showing in the high jump where she cleared 5-7.25.  She followed that up with a school record performance in the 200-meter dash.  She came in second with a time of 23.85.  Finally, she ran a leg on the school's 4x100-meter relay team that finished second in a time of 46.15.  The relay had the top time in prelims with a season best of 46.05.

Waring is the conference leader in the high jump and is the first conference track athlete of the week for the UIW women's track and field program this year.  The Cardinals are in action on Friday and Saturday at the Texas State University Classic in San Marcos.
