IRVING, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word football team had three members named to the 2016 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or better throughout their college career. The Cardinals had three seniors qualify for the award;
Padyn Giebler,
Clint Killough and
Cole Wick. A total of 868 players from 275 schools qualified for membership as the society celebrates its 10
th year, setting a new record for the number of players honored in the history of the program, which began in 2007.
There are three specific bench marks that a student-athlete must reach in order to qualify for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society: Being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university; Achieving a 3.2 cumulative GPA throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
Giebler was a four-year starter at inside linebacker for the Cardinals. As a senior, he registered 71 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown. Killough started off and on throughout his career as a wide receiver. He had 27 receptions for 350 yards this year, fourth best on the team in both categories. Wick was a three-year starter at tight end who earned all-conference honors. He had 30 grabs for 364 yards and two scores in 2015.
