Wylie, Shaw Earn All-Conference Honors

FRISCO, TEXAS – The Southland Conference released its men's golf all-conference teams on Monday following a vote by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.  The University of the Incarnate Word had two players recognized in the release.

UIW senior Austin Wylie (Boerne/Boerne HS) was named to the all-conference third team while senior Scott Shaw (San Antonio/Churchill HS) nabbed honorable mention honors.  Wylie edged out Shaw for the for best season scoring average for the Cardinals, 73.85-73.86.  Wylie finished the season with four top-10 performances including a ninth place finish at last week's conference championship tournament.  Shaw opened the season by winning the Texas Wesleyan University tournament and followed that with a runner-up finish at Houston Baptist en route to earning the Southland Conference Player of the Month award for September.

McNeese State's Martin Eriksson was named the 2015-16 Southland Conference Men's Golfer of the Year after leading the Cowboys to a conference title.  Other postseasons awards went to Nicholls' Jack Lee, who was named the conference's freshman of the year, Central Arkansas sophomore Louis Tomlinson, who was tabbed the league's newcomer of the year, and McNeese State head coach Austin Burk, who was the selected as the conference's coach of the year.

Joining Eriksson and Tomlinson on the first-team all-conference are Stephen F. Austin senior Luke Sheehan, Sam Houston State junior Andrew Ertel and Southeastern Louisiana junior James Anstiss.

Earning second-team all-conference are Lee, McNeese sophomore Andreas Krokeide, Lamar junior Zander Gous and senior Gregory Wiggins, and Sam Houston sophomore Jake McCrory. The third-team all-conference consists of Wylie, Sam Houston freshman Mason Weld, Southeastern junior Paul Obermann and senior Lawrence Allan, and UCA freshman Luis Obiols.

Sam Houston and Southeastern lead all schools with three all-conference selections while UCA, Lamar and McNeese each placed two members on the all-conference teams. UIW, Nicholls and each had one all-conference member. Seven golfers made a return appearance on the all-conference teams as Eriksson earned his third all-conference recognition while Sheehan, Anstiss, Krokeide, Wiggins, Obermann and Allan each received their second career all-conference honor.
