FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word senior Josip Smoljan (Citluk, Bosnia and Herzegovinia/Srednja Skola) earned Southland Conference Second Team honors at No. 1 singles, the conference announced today.

Smoljan went 4-1 in conference play and 16-13 overall in singles for the Cardinals.  It was a great bounce back season for a player who missed a large part of last season with an injury.  He was the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and earned first team all-conference honors as a sophomore.

Smoljan finished his career with a 47-35 singles record for the Cardinals in three seasons putting him sixth all-time in career singles victories.  He also went 34-34 in doubles play during his time at UIW putting him 11^th on the all-time list.  His 22 singles victories in 2013-14 remain the second most wins in a single season for UIW players.
