SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – It was a busy day for the University of the Incarnate Word track & field teams as they competed at the Trinity University Invitational and the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday.  The Texas Relays were delayed multiple times due to inclement weather.

The UIW women's 4x400-meter relay team and freshman Jerica Love (San Antonio/Warren HS) were the headliners for the Cardinals at the Texas Relays.  The relay team of Tiffani Mays (Temple/Temple HS), Dominique Allen (Converse/Judson HS), LaShawnda Simmons (Pflugerville/Pflugerville HS) and Ashley Joyner (San Antonio/O'Connor HS) broke the school record with a time of 3:49.23.  Love smashed the school mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.42 to win her heat.  Mahogani Frazier (Cibolo/Steele HS) also broke the school record with a time of 14.69.

Senior Jasmine Waring (San Antonio/Randolph HS) took runner-up honors in the 'B' high jump at the Texas Relays.  She cleared 5-5.25 in the event.

The UIW men won four events at the Trinity Invitational while the women won three events.  Douglas Bradshaw (San Antonio/Antonian HS) won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.12 after earlier running a time of 15.16 at the Texas Relays.  Love also won the women's 100-meter hurdles at Trinity.  The men won two other running events, Cesar Moreno (Del Rio/Del Rio HS) took the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:05.81 and Adam Herrera (Edinburg/Vela HS) won the 1500 meters in 4:02.68.  The final win for the Cardinals came in the triple jump that Robert Allen (San Antonio/Brackenridge HS) won with a leap of 47-1.5.

Myah Antwi (Huntsville/Huntsville HS) won the women's shot put with a toss of 47-0.25, the second best mark in school history.  She was also the runner-up in the hammer throw with a distance of 165-8.

Late in the evening, the men's and women's distance medley relay teams each posted the second fastest times in school history at the Texas Relays.  The women clocked a time of 12:17.13 while the men finished in 10:12.93.

The Texas Relays will conclude on Saturday.
