SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word is proud to host the second UIW Football Fundraiser event of the spring, featuring the Washington Redskins legend Darrell Green. The luncheon will take place on Friday, April 1 at the Wyndham Garden Riverwalk Hotel.
Green is one of the most recognized defensive backs in NFL history. He played college football at Texas A&M-Kingsville, formally known as Texas A&I University. Green, a seven-time pro bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion was drafted in the 1983 with the 28
th pick of the first round. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
Green played 20 seasons in the NFL and finished his career with 54 interceptions and over 1100 tackles. He also had six interceptions in 18 career playoff games, including two for touchdowns. He was the 1996 NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year, made seven Pro Bowls and was a First-Team All-Pro in 1991. He was named to 10 All-NFL teams during his career.
The luncheon is expected to sell out all 150 slots. The event will be held in the Wyndham's Ballroom from 12 to 2 p.m. A table for ten costs $800, while an individual ticket costs $100 per person. Each ticket provides lunch and access to silent auction items. The auction is scheduled to run from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. In addition, Mr. Green will be giving a speech and participating in a post Q and A session.
