SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swimming team sent two teams to two separate meets Saturday. The black team competed at Wheaton College in Massachusetts and finished in second place with 83.0 points, only behind the host team.
The red team competed in the Florida Invitational and finished in first place with 102.0 points. They defeated University of Florida and University of Central Florida.
In Boston, the black team competed against Boston University, Wheaton College and Smith College. The Cardinals took second place in every event except for the team event in which they took first place.
In Florida,
Camille Guerre led the way for UIW as she collected 77.1007 in the four figures.
Sydney Sprinkle finished second with 76.927, and
Madeline Walker-Byron totaled 76.5313.
Sprinkle also finished in first place in the solo free routine with a total of 78.1000 points.
Sara Jaumandreu took third place with 72.5667 points and Grace Downey finished in fourth with 72.2333 points.
In the duet free routine,
Kaylene Scheil and
Katy Wiita finished at the top of the rankings with 76.7333 points. Guerre and
Beatriz Regly finished right behind with a total of 76.2333
The Cardinals also took first and second place in the trio free routine.
Sarah Cooke, Guerre and Regly worked together to win first place with 77.4667, while Scheil Sprinkle and Walker-Byron received 75.3667 points to take second place.
In the team free routine, the Cardinals' eight beat the University of Florida's team 76.6-73.4667.
The Cardinals' next competition is tomorrow at Boston University.
