SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swimming team dominated the proceedings at the South Region Championships hosted by UIW at the Barshop Natatorium on Saturday.
The Cardinals finished with 104 points in the meet well ahead of the competition. Florida finished second with 80 points and they were followed by William & Mary (62.5), Richmond (53) and Central Florida (18).
In the Figures portion of the meet, the Cardinals were outstanding.
Camille Guerre,
Sydney Sprinkle and
Beatriz Regly took the top three places in A Figures while
Sarah Cooke,
Madison Craney and
Madison Delgado took the top three places in B Figures.
Sprinkle won the Solo Free routine with 83.2667 points and was followed by Delgado with 78.1 points,
Rachel Rosolowski with 77.2333 points and
Sara Jaumandreu with 76.433 points. In the Duet Free routine, Guerre and Regly edged out teammates
Katy Wiita and
Madeline Walker-Byron, 83.7667-83.0667.
Guerre and Regly then teamed with Cooke to win the Trio Free routine with 82.1 points.
The meet culminated in the Cardinals winning the Team Free routine. The grouping of Cooke, Craney, Guerre, Jaumandreu, Regly, Sprinkle, Walker-Byron and Wiita won with 82.633 points.
The regional meet championship has the Cardinals in great form for the U.S. Collegiate National Championships that will take place March 22-26 at the University of Florida.
