SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word sophomore midfielder-forward
Nikki Popa (San Antonio/Reagan HS) was called up to the Romanian national women's soccer team last week.
Popa is one of 22 players that will be taking part in a 10-day training camp that includes three friendly games. The training camp takes place at del Pinatar San Pedro in the Murcia region of Spain. Romania will play Albacete of the first division Spanish League on January 20, Norway on January 22 and Lorca of the second division Spanish League on January 26.
Popa is a two-year starter for the Cardinals and one of two current collegiate players on the Romanian roster. The group of 22 players summoned for the training session is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Andreea Marguerite, Roxana Oprea
