Men's Soccer Regionally Ranked

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team moved into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) West Region rankings for the first time since moving to Division I in 2013.

The Cardinals (4-2) are ranked 10th in the latest NSCAA regional poll after defeating Central Arkansas, 8-1 last Friday.  UIW does not have an official contest this week, but fans have two opportunities to watch the team play.  On Friday at 7 p.m. they will play CIW Mexico and then on Sunday at 5 p.m. they will play the annual Alumni Game.  Both matches will be played at Benson Stadium.

The Cardinals are one of four Western Athletic Conference teams in the West Region top 10 joining Utah Valley (3), UNLV (4) and Seattle (5).  UIW opens up WAC play on September 30 when they host CSU Bakersfield.

The Cardinals finished third in the WAC last year and were picked to finish sixth this year.  They have the highest scoring team in the league with 2.67 goals per game led by senior Noah Keats (Exeter, Eng./The King's School) who already has seven goals and two assists.  Defensively, the team has a 0.83 goals against average.
