FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word senior
Austin Jordan (Rainbow/Glen Rose HS) was named to the Southland Conference men's golf second team following a vote by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Jordan capped off his record-setting career last week with a ninth place finish at the Southland Conference Championship at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas. He set the school record this season for lowest stroke average coming in at 72.54 strokes per 18 holes. He started the season with a fantastic run where he finished as runner-up or one shot out of the lead in six consecutive tournaments. He finally broke through for a win at the Rattler Invitational and he accumulated eight top-10 finishes for the season.
Jordan finished his career with the most competitive rounds played in school history (96) and the lowest career stroke average (74.36). He owns the two best single season stroke averages in school history and three of the top five. He was a Southland Conference honorable mention selection last year and a second team all-Lone Star Conference player as a sophomore.
The Cardinals have one more tournament to play this year at the PGA Minority Championships, but Jordan will not be competing because he has graduation on the same weekend. The business administration major owns a 3.92 grade point average.
