FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word freshman sprinter Ashley Joyner (San Antonio/O'Connor HS) was selected the Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.

Joyner picked up three first-place ribbons Saturday at the UIW Invitational by claiming wins in the women's open 400 meters, the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.  She had a top time of 57.06 seconds in the 400 meters and anchored the winning 4x400 relay team as she outkicked Prairie View A&M and Texas State to capture the race in a school record time of 3:49.74.  She was also a part of the first place 4x200 relay team who finished in 1:47.13.

Joyner and the rest of the Cardinals are traveling to the Kansas Relays this week that will be held Thursday through Saturday at Rock Chalk Park.
