FRISCO, TEXAS – The Southland Conference released its annual men's basketball all-conference teams on Monday and the University of the Incarnate Word had two players named after a vote by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
UIW senior
Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) was a first team all-conference selection after earning second team honors in 2013-14. He was second in the league in scoring (22.0) and steals (2.5) in addition to filling the stat sheet in a number of other categories. He led the Cardinals to an 18-10 overall record and a 10-8 mark in the conference, good for fifth place.
Livingston has put together one of the best seasons in school history. He has already set school records for single season and career free throws made and attempted. He needs two steals to break the single season steals mark and is second in career steals. His 22.0 points per game is the third-highest total in school history and he is the first player since 1994-95 to score more than 600 points in a season. He has earned numerous awards this year and was named to the Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year Award Watch List.
Junior
Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) earned honorable mention all-conference honors. He is averaging 15.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while leading the conference in three-point percentage (42.2%). He became the 15
th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points this year. He has made 57 three-pointers after draining 59 last season. Both Hittle and Livingston earned Southland Conference Player of the Week honors during the season.
