FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word senior sprinter Chris DeWitt was selected Southland Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

DeWitt swept the sprinting events at UIW's Quadrangle Invitational this weekend, claiming the 100-meters with a time of 10.73 seconds and the 200-meters in 21.46. The San Antonio, Texas (Churchill H.S.), native also anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay team that finished in a time of 41.25. The senior finished second in the long jump as well, leaping for a distance of 21 feet. DeWitt is currently ranked No. 1 in the Southland in both the 100m and 200m while being fifth in the 4x100m relay.

It was the first time in his outstanding career that DeWitt earned conference athlete of the week honors.
