PATTERSON, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team carded the low round of the day at the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate on Tuesday and was declared co-champions of the tournament along with South Dakota. (Results)

The Cardinals shot a final round score of 302 on The Atchafalaya at Idlewild, a par-72, 7398-yard course.  They entered the third round trailing the leaders by two strokes, but made a strong move thanks to the play of Austin Jordan (Rainbow/Glen Rose HS), Austin Wylie (Boerne/Boerne HS) and Remy Huston (Sinton/Sinton HS).  All three players had three birdies in the final round.  Jordan and Huston each shot 74 while Wylie posted a 73.

Overall, UIW had a team score of 920.  Jordan earned runner-up honors for the fourth time this year and he would have been the runner-up at all six tournaments this year save for first place ties in front of him.  He entered the final round in third place and moved up one spot, but he could not catch South Dakota's Samuel Matthew who finished at 2-over par 218 after a one-under par round closing out the tournament.  Jordan finished four shots back of Matthew.

Wylie finished in seventh place after a 77-78-73=228 showing and Huston was the big mover on the final day climbing eight spots.  Huston took 11^th with an 80-78-74-232 score.

South Dakota shot a 316-300-304=920 to tie the Cardinals.  Host Nicholls was third at 308-313-304=925.  New Orleans (927) finished in fourth and they were followed by UT-Pan American (934), Omaha (950), North Dakota (981) and Texas Southern (983).

The Cardinals are at home in two weeks when they host the Litz Memorial Tournament at the Republic Golf Course.
