SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – For the second time this year, University of the Incarnate Word senior
Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) was named the College Sports Madness Men's Basketball Mid-Major Player of the Week on Monday.
Livingston led the Cardinals (15-6, 7-4) to a pair of Southland Conference wins last week. He had 32 points, six rebounds, four assists and seven steals in a home game against Nicholls. He came back with 31 points, five rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks in a win at Central Arkansas.
Livingston averaged 31.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game for the week. He shot 50.0 percent from the field and was 25-of-27 at the charity stripe. He did all of this while moving over to play point guard after injuries left the team's top two point guards on the sidelines.
Livingston has scored at least 30 points in a game five times this year and is now averaging 22.9 points per game. That is the top mark in the Southland Conference and second in the nation. He needs to score just 18 points to move into third place on the school's career scoring list and currently has 1,572 career points.
