LAREDO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team won the Jack Brown Memorial Tournament played on Monday and Tuesday at the Laredo Country Club behind the stellar play of individual medalist Jaimie Bibby (Corpus Christi/Incarnate Word Academy). (Results)

Bibby and the Cardinals ran away with the 54-hole tournament played over a par-72, 5821-yard layout.  She fired the low round in all three rounds and finished with a 14-stroke victory.  The team lapped the field that consisted of Texas A&M-International, UT-Brownsville, Texas A&M-Kingsville and University of St. Thomas (TX).  Overall, the Cardinals fired a 306-319-309=934.

UIW coach Tommy Walling was happy with how the team played.  "I thought we played extremely well in the first and third rounds.  Jaimie Bibby and Maddy Buhler played three exceptional rounds each.  It was our best 3-round tournament we have played this school year."

Bibby posted scores of 73-73-71=217 to win her first ever collegiate tournament.  It was also the first tournament title for a UIW player since Flower Castillo won the Lady Cardinal Invitational on September 10-11, 2012.  This was the third time the Cardinals have won Texas A&M-International's spring tournament.
Buhler (Victoria/St. Joseph's HS) was clear in second place with three solid rounds in the 70s.  She posted a 74-79-78=231 total.  All five of the UIW starters finished in the top 10.

A&M-International finished in second place with 1,012 strokes and they were followed by UT-Brownsville (1023), Texas A&M-Kingsville (1026) and St. Thomas (1040).
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks at the Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
