KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – The Western Athletic Conference announced its All-WAC men's soccer teams and major awards as selected by the league's 11 head coaches on Wednesday night at the annual pre-tournament banquet.
The University of the Incarnate Word had a pair of players named to the all-conference teams. Senior defender
Jonathan Camarena (El Paso/Del Valle HS) earned first team honors while junior forward
Ben Conway (Wigan, Eng./Hawkley Hall) was placed on the second team.
Camarena started all 16 games for the Cardinals mostly as a left back. He finished the season with a goal and two assists. He helped the team record three shutouts on the season. He was a second team all-conference selection as a junior.
Conway finished second on the team with 17 points coming on seven goals and three assists while attempting a team high 56 shots. He has now scored 16 goals and eight assists in his three seasons with the Cardinals.
UNLV's Danny Musovski was named WAC Offensive Player of the Year while Seattle U's Kyle Bjornethun was named WAC Defensive Player of the Year. Seattle U's Sergio Rivas was named WAC Freshman of the Year and Redhawks head coach Pete Fewing was named WAC Coach of the Year.
