SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word had a pair of men's soccer student-athletes named to the Academic All-District VII first team. The awards are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Senior defender
Andrew Grossman (Arlington/Mansfield Summit HS) and senior forward
Dylan Kelly (Tuscon, AZ/Salpointe Catholic HS) were each voted onto the Academic All-District VII first team. This is the first Academic All-District award for Grossman and the third straight Academic All-District honor for Kelly who earned Academic All-America third team honors last year.
Grossman is an engineering management major who has a 3.74 grade point average. He has played 12 games this year on the defensive back line. He was a Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection last year.
Kelly is also an engineering management major who has a 3.86 grade point average. He has scored four goals and dished out seven assists for a total of 15 points this year. He is second in the conference in assists and he is second on the team in points scored. He earned second team all-Western Athletic Conference honors last year.
Grossman and Kelly will both advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. In order to be eligible for the award a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 grade point average and have completed one full year at their current institution.
