FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word sophomore middle blocker
Bryaunea Hall (Copperas Cove/Copperas Cove HS) was named the Southland Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
Hall led the Cardinals to a pair of home victories over Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans. She had 13 kills in each match while hitting over .400 in both matches. She finished the week with 26 kills (3.75 kills/set) and a .453 hitting percentage. In addition, she had six blocks on the defensive side of the net.
Hall became the first UIW volleyball player in the program's history to win Southland Conference player of the week honors.
The Cardinals (6-13, 4-6) take on McNeese State on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the McDermott Convocation Center. UIW has won their last three home matches and will have just one home match remaining after Tuesday.
The Cardinals are averaging 12.86 kills per set with a .191 attack this season. Freshman
Autumn Lockley (Leander/Leander HS) leads the team with 3.13 kills per set and a .246 attack percentage. Hall chips in with 2.27 kills per set, a .203 attack and a team high 64 blocks.
The Cowgirls (10-14, 5-4) average 11.87 kills per set and have a .194 attack percentage. Malina Sanchez leads the team with 2.95 kills per set and has a .230 attack percentage. Ebony Lewis owns a .292 hitting percentage while Monica Hudgins has 76 blocks on the season.
