Huntsinger Named Goalie of the Week

FRISCO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word freshman Sydney Huntsinger (New Braunfels/Canyon HS) has been selected as this week's Southland Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Tuesday.

In both competitions this week, Huntsinger was one of three players to play all 200 minutes.  In the first game of the week at McNeese State, she made five saves and faced 16 total shots from the Cowgirls in a 1-0 loss.  Protecting the net got harder in the game against Lamar as they took a total 35 shots.  Huntsinger finished the game with 18 saves to break the school record for saves in a match.  She made eight saves in the first half, six in the second half and the final four in the second overtime period.  The New Braunfels native has played every minute since her debut in the match against Central Arkansas on October 2.

The Cardinals will return to action for their final two home games of the season this weekend at Benson Stadium.  They will face the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Friday at 7 p.m. They will end their home schedule against Stephen F. Austin on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
