ARKADELPHIA, ARKANSAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's swimming and diving teams each defeated Ouachita Baptist University on Thursday at Waggoner Pool. (

The UIW women won 13 events in the pool and both diving events. The Cardinals had four swimmers win two individual events apiece. The 200-yard medley relay team opened the meet by winning in a time of 1:51.34. Sophomore
Alona Kyselova (Kiev, Ukraine/Tarasa Shevchenko) followed that by taking the 200 freestyle comfortably in a time of 1:54.60. She would later add another dominating victory in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.54.
Sophomore
Abigail Meyer (Austin/Bowie HS) swept the backstroke events. She took the 100 in 59.97 and touched the wall in the 200 in 2:07.72. Junior
Daria Makieieva (Mariupol, Ukraine/Olimpic Reserve of Sergey Bubka) did the same thing in the breaststroke events. She took the 100 in 1:05.17 and came back to win the 200 in 2:22.04. Meyer, Makieieva and Kyselova joined
Claudia Bernier (Cedar Hill/Cedar Hill HS) on the winning 200 medley relay team.
The final double winner for the UIW women was freshman
Mariana Olguin (Toledo, Panama/Colegio Newton Guimaraes) in the sprint freestyle races. She won the 50 freestyle in 24.69 and then took the 100 in 54.47.
The UIW men had similar success to the women winning 12 individual races, both relays and both diving events. After winning the 200 medley relay, senior long distance ace Conner Hennessy (San Antonio/Business Careers HS) got things started by taking the 1000 freestyle in 9:40.69. Late in the meet, he took the 500 freestyle in 4:38.86.
John Hennessy followed up Connor's first victory by taking the 200 freestyle in 1:45.57. He would add a title in the 100 freestyle when he hit the wall in 47.98. Sophomore
Aaron Moran (Helotes/Brandeis HS) controlled the backstroke events. He won the 100 in 52.50 and then followed that by taking the 200 in 1:53.88.
Junior
David Moore (San Antonio/Marshall HS), a quality swimmer in every discipline, won the 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley. He touched the wall in the 200 breaststroke in 2:08.10 and then won the 400 IM by more than five seconds in 4:00.37.
Senior diver
Alex Ramirez (Spring/Oak Ridge HS) scored 260.45 points in the 1-meter springboard to win and then followed that with 208.70 points in the 3-meter event for a second win.
The Cardinal teams are back in action next weekend at the Rice Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
