CHD Names Livingston Southland Player of 2014

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word senior guard Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) was named the Southland Player of 2014 by College Hoops Daily on Tuesday night.

Livingston has led the Cardinals to an 8-3 record this year, including road victories at Nebraska, Grand Canyon and UMKC.  He was also named the College Hoops Daily Southland Player of 2013.  The award is handed out to the player that CHD tabs as the best player from the conference during the non-conference season.

Livingston averaged 21.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Cardinals in their non-conference games this year.  He posted three double-doubles and scored in double figures in all 10 games.  He is ranked sixth in the nation in scoring and had a season high 34 points in the win at Grand Canyon.

Livingston knocked down the game-winning shot at Grand Canyon with 22 seconds left in the game.  He had a mammoth performance at UMKC when he played a school record 55 minutes in a triple overtime win.  He had 30 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocks in the game.

Livingston and the Cardinals are on the road on Saturday at Southland Conference rival Northwestern State for a 3 p.m. tip.
