FRISCO, TEXAS – The Southland Conference released their 2015 preseason all-conference softball teams on Wednesday and University of the Incarnate Word sophomore
Mikaela Flores (Lockhart/Lockhart HS) was on the first team.
Flores was tabbed as the first team utility player after seeing plenty of time in the lineup and in the pitching circle for the Cardinals in 2014. She led the team in hitting with a .404 batting average, .629 slugging percentage and six home runs in only 89 at bats. She made 34 appearances as a pitcher with 30 coming in relief. She accumulated a 5-2 record with two saves and a team high 61 strikeouts in only 72.2 innings of work.
Southland teams open the season Friday, Feb. 6 with conference play beginning Friday, March 6. The 2015 Southland Conference Softball Tournament will be hosted by Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La., May 7-9 at the Lady Demon Diamond. The championship round will air live exclusively on ESPN3, available at
watchespn.com and the WatchESPN app. In addition, all other games of the tournament will be streamed live for free on the Southland Conference Digital Network, available via
southland.org/watch and the Southland Conference app.
