SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – University of the Incarnate Word senior midfielder Alex de la Garza (Mission/Sharyland HS) was named to the NSCAA All-West Region second team on Friday.

The four-year member of the Cardinals men's soccer team led the team in scoring in 2014 with five goals and seven assists.  He led the team to a third place regular season finish in the Western Athletic Conference in the team's first year in the league. 

The all-region award caps off a strong career that includes first team All-WAC recognition in 2014.  As a junior, he had five goals and two assists en route to earning College Sports Madness All-Independent second team honors.  In his sophomore year, he played a big role in the team winning the Lone Star Conference and NCAA Division II South Central Region titles.  His goal in the 78^th minute against Regis proved to be the game-winner in the South Central Region title game.  He had eight goals and three assists and was an LSC second team pick.  He finished his career with 18 goals and 12 assists for the Cardinals.
