Cardinals Welcome Huskies for Southland Conference Series

SAN ANTONIO–The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team is back home for a three-game Southland Conference set against Houston Baptist on Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
FIRST PITCH
The Cardinals lost a non-conference game to UTSA on Tuesday and lost a conference series at Nicholls two games to one last weekend. They'll look to get back on the winning side as they face the fourth best team in the Southland Standings.

Summary
The Huskies just finished a conference series sweep of Abilene Christian last weekend. They beat the Wildcats 8-7, 9-3, and 10-3. Their 9-6 SLC record is fourth best behind McNeese, Sam Houston State, and Stephen F. Austin. The offense is hitting .274 and they are averaging 5.2 runs per game. The pitching staff has the third best ERA in the SLC at 3.85, and they have the least amount of walks, 91, in the entire conference.

Summary:
The Cardinals suffered their third shutout loss of the season when they lost 16-0 at UTSA last Tuesday. They have lost five of their last six games, but they come back home after playing seven games on the road. At Sullivan Field, UIW is 11-7. The offense is hitting .279 and the pitching staff has an ERA of 7.53.  

SERIES HISTORY

Houston Baptist leads the series history 30-25. Last season, the Huskies hosted the Cardinals and took two out of three in the series. All three games were great pitching matchups with very low scored. HBU won games one and three 3-1 and 2-0, while UIW won game two 3-2.

SPECIAL NOTE TO FANS

The university is set to host Alamo Heights Night on Friday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for this weekend's series-opener. Lower parking lots will be closed to the public, but parking will still be available at the Alonso Ancira Tower Parking Garage.
