Lamar to Host Cardinals for Southland Conference Series

BEAUMONT, Texas– The Cardiac Cards from the University of the Incarnate Word will go on the road to face Lamar in a Southland Conference series on Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 2 pm., and Sunday at 1 p.m. 
 
FIRST PITCH

The Cardinals (13-9, 4-2 SLC) started Southland Conference play with two series wins for the first time since their transition to Division I. They won two out of three in both series at Abilene Christian and at home against Central Arkansas. UIW is currently ranked fifth in the conference and is only two games behind first place teams Sam Houston State and McNeese.

Summary
Lamar started the season with a four game winning streak, and winning six of their first seven games. In the conference opening series, they lost all three games at Sam Houston State, and later dropped two out of three at Southeastern Louisiana. Cutter McDowell was an honorable mention player of the week for last week's performance. He hit .400, including four doubles and a homerun, and drove in 10 runs, including a 5-RBI game against Prairie View A&M.
